Alyssa De Gazon Roberts, M.Ed.
As versatile counselling professional, Ms. Alyssa De Gazon-Roberts’ career spans over nine years in providing client-centered and team-based support both in the United States and Trinidad & Tobago. Ms. De Gazon-Roberts has worked in a supervisory capacity, providing crisis intervention services within the child protection system in Trinidad & Tobago, as well as in the higher education system at a number of institutions located on the eastern coast of the United States.
She has worked with diverse populations, in Residential Life/Education, and Judicial Affairs/Student Conduct at various colleges and universities, including Barnard College, Oglethorpe University, and the University of West Georgia. Within her role, she developed a passion for working with numerous stakeholders to develop and implement social and educational programming focused on student advocacy and holistic development. During her tenure in Judicial Affairs/Student Conduct at the University of West Georgia, Ms. De Gazon-Roberts contributed to the review and implementation of new university policies serving to guide the disciplinary and sanctioning systems being facilitated at the institution.
As a Team Leader in the Child and Family Services Unit at the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago,she provided hands-on guidance and insight to assist in facilitating the progression of client cases. Ms. De Gazon-Roberts was also afforded the opportunity to collaborate with a number of external service providers and stakeholders to aid in the delivery of a wide variety of psychosocial interventions to clients and families who were engaged in navigating the child protection system. She consistently demonstrated a strong ability to maintain various community partnerships to connect individuals to necessary resources, while also providing mediation and crisis response/intervention services.
Ms. De Gazon-Roberts obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Professional Counselling, which has informed her present work in providing trauma-informed care and therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and groups across numerous settings. Ms. De Gazon-Roberts has assisted in the providing delivery of services within a United Nations Development Programme community-based project, which included the assessment and training of youth from “at risk” communities. She has also conducted various training sessions and workshops, focusing on stress/anxiety management, team-building, and other topics across both corporate and community settings.
Ms. De Gazon-Roberts’ portfolio reflects a dynamic and eclectic professional background. As a strategic counselling and crisis intervention professional, she has developed a sharp eye for detail and a collaborative and diplomatic approach to work, due to her passion for facilitating growth, empowerment, and insight in others.
