Mark Lawrence, M.Sc.

Mark Lawrence is a Sociologist, Social Researcher, Youth Mentor, Workshop Facilitator, United Nations Gender Advocate and Social Entrepreneur who also has additional training in the fields of Psychology, Social Policy and Child Forensic Interviewing. He has served as a facilitator at Naissance Consultancy Services who has been involved in almost each project executed by the company. He has also received training in facilitation from several local organizations as well as the United Nations Network and has designed and facilitated co-parenting workshops as well as other group therapy support services for the Family Court of Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Lawrence has also been hired as a private service provider to the Family Court as well as the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. In addition, Mr. Lawrence serves as the Director of the Research and Policy Development Unit within Naissance.

Mr. Lawrence lectures at the Liberal Arts Department of the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) and was previously a part-time lecturer and tutor at the Behavioural Sciences Department of UWI St. Augustine.    

Most recently Mr. Lawrence was crucially involved in the execution of several United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) youth projects including two phases of the Positive Deviants Programme for at risk youth as well as the Turning Point Programme for youths at the Youth Training and Rehabilitation Centre (YTRC). He has also been involved in research for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on projects relating to Adolescent access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Trinidad and Tobago along with a lengthy tenure as lead consultant on the Gender Sensitivity Training of the Ministry of National Security’s Civilian Conservation Corps.
